Planning Habits Of The Rich

We will get 1440 brand new minutes at the start of each new day. No more, no les and the only difference is how we use them. I someone seems to et more done than others in the same length of time, you may be sure they work harder and have a plan. Work is futile unless wisely directed. Plan your work and work your plan.

Because they have so much time, a lot of people pretend they have none. “Did you call back the guest?” asks the manager. “No” you rely with your tongue in your cheek. “I wanted to call him. But did no have the time”. That answer of course was not quite accurate. What you really meant was that you did not plan the use of your time that day to include a call on your guest. There is plenty of time each day for each of us to go all out for success and triumph.

Important businessmen work with a definite plan, not only for the year or month but for every workday. Check this statement against your own observations and you will agree that on the desk of almost every executive you contact, is a schedule for the day of people to see and of work to be done. Why are these men of great purpose and superior achievements gifted with talents you do not possess? Are they supermen? No they are simply those who work with no lost motion. Because they mean to do what is planned in advance and thus they are able to concentrate without interruption on the work at hand.

Time and ideas are what consultants have to sell. He or she is working for wages just as any man woman on an hourly schedule. But he or she gets his or her own wage scale. What does that mean? It means that every hours wasted is money out of your pocket. To throw away a productive hour is the same as burning money. Planning is the most important word in the consultants dictionary. A tight but workable schedule must be planned if one is to handle the job properly.

Probably the greatest time wasters do not realize the hours they lose in a single day or week. They keep no record of what they intend to do or what they have done, and so they imagine every moment productive. If you want to get maximum results from your time-then plan better use of it. This requires keeping in black and white a weekly consultant report to permit a fair analysis and inventory of how to go about your daily work. Once you have seen yourself in true perspective you will willingly pas to the next step which is to schedule in advance each days activities.

Planning The Work Week

First, you need to get yourself a day planner. This is to be used in arranging your week’s work and projections in advance. A daily planner is extremely valuable at the end of any given day, week, month or year to analyze your degree of productivity which in turn determines your level of success. The desire fo more call, more buddy promotions, more selling, more learning, more organization will pave the road to success. Some consultants resist organization, daily planners, weekly summaries, projections and the like. Yet the successful ones have learned that it is the only possible way. Work and self-reliance are the only sound bases for successful selling. Part of training must be actual experience, planned, supervised, and carried out according to plan. The other part is also experience. The individual level also planned and carried out according to plan. Too, if you are having trouble with that quota, turn your eyes inward. The trouble may be a lack of planning and you may be the only person who can change it.

The success of salesmanship, broadly or specifically, stands four square on the solid foundation of experience, constant application of knowledge in actual sales situations. The gaining of first hand experience is the consultants one hope of becoming a veteran. But there is so little time. The hours per day are shorter, the days per week are less and the tendency is towards more of the same. A consultant must not only learn to sell, but to do it quickly and he must do it with less time at his disposal. Efficiency and planning will only come from experience.
